Fall Most Important Quarter in Ubisoft's History

Ubisoft places pressure on fall line-up performance.

Ubisoft has placed significant pressure on its fall line-up, according to its second quarter sales report (via G4). "The third quarter of 2009-10 will be the most important quarter in Ubisoft's history," states the report.

With six titles shipping this fall, Assassin's Creed II is easily the biggest title in Ubi's line-up. Others include Avatar: The Game, Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage, Just Dance, Rabbids Go Home, and Your Shape Featuring Jenny McCarthy. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemont believes that the strength of the line-up lies in the diverse range of titles. Ubisoft's portfolio for early next year is also impressive, featuring Splinter Cell: Conviction, I Am Alive and R.U.S.E.

Tyler says: The first Assassin's Creed was one of the most successful new franchises in 2007, and I'd wager that the sequel will also bring in a lot of sales. Still, the rest of the six-game line-up don't seem to have the weight that AC2 does. I doubt the Avatar game or Shaun White Snowboarding will grab a wide audience like AC did back in 2007, and I doubt Jenny McCarthy's workout game will share the same sales numbers as Wii Fit or EA's Sports Active. So, the most important quarter in Ubisoft's history is basically put on AC2's shoulders. I'll have no problem helping to lift that weight off Ezio's shoulders, as it's easily my most anticipated game of the year.
