TF2 Guard Dog 'Patent' Hints at New Update

'Patent' posted on Team Fortress 2's blog teases update.

Valve has always introduced new items/upgrades to its multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 in fun and inventive ways, and the next update is no different. On the Team Fortress 2 blog yesterday, a "patent" letter was posted by "Mann Co." for a "Guard Dog" invention (via Rock Paper Shotgun). Other cryptic details about the Guard Dog include the description "item retrieving, cannon-appended canine unit." The letter, signed by Mann Co. President Saxton Hale, reads like those fill-in-the-adjective word puzzles you find in activity books.

*UPDATE: Turns out the Guard Dog is not an update, but was the result of an amazing piece of concept art from a fan. A sad day indeed, but maybe the dog will make it into TF3? A guy can dream!

Tyler says: Could this be an update to an existing class, a new gametype or something altogether different? With the descriptor "item retrieving" I can't help but think of recent canine characters like Dogmeat and the dog from Fable II. Could the "cannon-appended," verbiage hint at an update for the Soldier class?
