SOE's Announces Two New EverQuest Expansions

At the annual fan faire in Las Vegas SOE announces EverQuest: Underfoot and EverQuest II Sentinel's Fate.

Sony Online Entertainment's annual fan faire held in Las Vegas last Friday saw two new expansions announced for both EverQuest and EverQuest II. While specific details remain thin on the ground at this point, EverQuest: Underfoot is the 16th official expansion for the company's original MMORPG. Underfoot will introduce a brand new underground dungeon when it launches later this year.

EverQuest II will get its sixth expansion called Sentinel's Fate which will increase the player's level cap to 90 and will release sometime in 2010. Additionally, Sentinel's Fate will introduce a new achievement system according to Eurogamer.

Sentinel's Fate will allow you to play older, low-level content with a high-level character and still gain experience. SOE is also integrating various achievements into the game, such as killing 10,000 orcs or reaching level 80 with multiple characters.

We're expecting more details on both expansions to appear later this summer.

Bryn says: Wow. I can't believe that EQ is up to 16 expansions. That's insane. It's a real testament to the dedicated development team as well as the stalwart user base. I'm almost tempted to go and install the game and check it out. It's been nearly eight years since I last played. It must be an entirely different game at this point.
