Warhammer Online Clears a Path to the Fortress

Mythic reduces the 20-33 levelling curve and makes changes to fortress battles.

The big attraction of Warhammer Online's "end-game" is the opportunity to take part in massive city sieges that allow players to lay waste to the enemy's capital city. In order to facilitate player access and ensure a fun experience, Mythic Entertainment, the game's developer, announced two significant changes to the game.

The first is the now permananet reduction on experience points needed for players to go from level 20 to 33 (the first level at which they're eligible for "Tier IV" gameplay). This essentially makes permanent a "holdiay experience bonus" program the company instituted on December 19, 2008.

The second element of the changes to Tier IV fortress sieges is a series of hard level caps for players participating in them. According to the official notification, once the server population in a city siege reaches a certain number, all players of level 35 or below will be locked out. When a higher threshold is reached, this cap will be raised to 37, then 39 until an ultimate number is reached and all remaining players will be locked out. While this may seem harsh, the Mythic notice claims that this should dramatically reduce server instability that has plagued the endgame content and will still allow hundreds of players to participate in city sieges.
