Exclusive Online Review: Mario Kart Wii

Does Nintendo's racer speed past 7.9 miles per hour? Tune in early Sunday morning to find out.

In just about a week, Nintendo of America will launch Mario Kart Wii, the long awaited next installment in the company's acclaimed racing series. The title comes packaged with the Wii Wheel, a mini steering-wheel peripheral designed to give the impression that players are really in control of the karts as they twist and turn around the outlandish tracks. It's got more stages and more characters than ever and in addition to everything else, Wii's Kart boasts a full online mode, the most ambitious in Nintendo history. It all sounds good, of course, but is it? Really? You'll have to tune into IGN Wii this Sunday to find out.

That's right – we're giving you a reason to come back inside and turn your computer on this weekend. Sunday at 12:00 a.m. PST (or very late Saturday night depending on your viewpoint), we will post the exclusive online review of the final, U.S.-localized Mario Kart Wii. We've put our boxed, retail copies of Kart Wii through the ringer and we're ready to render our verdict. Look out for our written review to hit as the clock strikes midnight and (if all goes well) our video review, too. (Our video monkeys will be working around the clock to meet the deadline.)

It's no secret that IGN was and remains one of Mario Kart Double Dash!!'s harshest critics. This weekend, find out of Mario Kart Wii has won us over.
