Using data from leading torrent site BitTorrent, the sneaky folks at Torrentfreak have compiled a list of the Top 10 Most Pirated PC Games of the year, and as expected, EA's hit simulation Spore was the runaway winner with about 1.7 million downloads since being released in September. This comes as little surprise, as the game made headlines due to issues over its use of arguably draconian DRM copy protection technology. Over half a million downloads were tallied in its first 10 days of release alone.
Coming in second is another EA game, The Sims 2, which was downloaded over 1.1 million times despite being initially released back in 2004. Two more EA games, Crysis and Command & Conquer 3, also made the list:
1. Spore - 1,700,000
2. The Sims 2 - 1,150,000
3. Assassins Creed - 1,070,000
4. Crysis - 940,000
5. Command & Conquer 3 - 860,000
6. Call of Duty 4 - 830,000
7. GTA San Andreas - 740,000
8. Fallout 3 - 645,000
9. Far Cry 2 - 585,000
10. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 - 470,000
